Ansaldo NES, formerly Nuclear Engineering Services (NES) origins within the nuclear market date back to the mid 1950s under John Thompson Engineering, with earlier manufacturing contracts dating back further to the 1800s in boiler manufacturing.
John Thompson founded, Boiler manufacturers and Suppliers across the UK and Europe.
John Thompson Ordnance Company formed. Introduction to electro – mechanical design and manufacture for civil defence development projects.
First nuclear related contract won for UKAEA Dounreay.
Order for Fuel Route equipment received for Berkeley Power Station.
Nuclear design and build contracts spread to other Magnox Power Stations.
John Thompson Nuclear Components formed. Undertake Nuclear Engineering Design and Manufacture for all major Nuclear Power Stations across the UK.
Supply moves to AGRs at Hinkley Point and Hunterston.
NEI Thompson formed. Merger between John Thompson, International Combustion and Clark Chapman.
Rolls Royce NESL formed. The company branch out into the manufacture of aero engine spares and assemblies whilst expanding.
MoD work in the support of the naval nuclear submarine programme.
High level of nuclear contracts is maintained within the UK.
Nuclear Engineering Services Limited (NES) formed. Seighford Investments and Brett Cooper acquire Rolls Royce NES, moving away from corporate owned plc. to a privately owned business.
NES Receive LDC Investment. NES receive £6.5m investment from LDC supported by the Co-Operative bank to fund the next phase of growth of the company.
NES expand business operations and open a Centre of Engineering Excellence on Birchwood Park, Risley.
